Our Mission:
Living Bread Ministries exists for the purpose of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and is God. Our focus is to help people come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to help them grow in His likeness.
Our History:
We read in the Bible to,“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving” (Col 4:2). It is our belief that Living Bread Ministries was founded, and continues, because of God honoring the prayers of a small group of us. We were unsure of what God desired in particular but were convinced that He joined us together for a reason and that, in time, He would reveal His plan.
It was during a trip to Israel to visit the Holy Land in early 2007, that I was blessed to experience a soup kitchen ministry in Tel Aviv. While there, I sensed the Holy Spirit of God speaking to my heart; asking me specific questions of what I was seeing, and whether or not I had mental notes of all the details. The inquiry seemed so strong that I had to say, at least in my mind, “Yes Lord, I see this, I got it.” And His nonverbal response seemed to be, “Good, hold on to it.”
Not long after my return another person from our small group, unaware of what I had experienced, asked me if I wanted to look at a building to do ministry in. Without hesitation I said “Yes, because I believe that I know what we are to do with the building.”
We acquired our building by June of that year and many hot meals have been served to the people of the community since then. Numerous functions and outreaches ministering to children and adults have taken place in the last 11 years in the building once known as the, “Firehouse,” and we praise God for this. We have come to realize that just as there are seasons in life, things often change, and the same holds true in ministry. Currently the bright spot at Living Bread is the food pantry ministry. It is comprised of several volunteers serving in various capacities, from picking up the food items at the Walmart Supercenter, to unloading the van, stocking the pantry, setting out the food, giving a brief message of hope, or taking care of cleaning and the upkeep of the building. The food distribution takes place three times a week and serves on average over 125 families on a weekly basis.
Presently we are praying about the need for better parking and for a walk in cooler/freezer system large enough to accommodate our needs. So, with prayerful expectation we continue to wait on God to reveal His will and provision to accomplish it.
